Welcome Team Building branding activities afloat have a distinct advantage. The whole process involves the crew working together closely from the off, ideal for breaking the ice. First of all they will be briefed to handle the mooring warps correctly and leave the marina berth safely. Your helmsmen and women will then receive some essential instructions on which side of the river to navigate and how to recognise the markers indicating the deep water channel (it may not be wise to follow that Topper sailing dinghy in front!).

Once in the Solent, the sails are raised and the skipper will demonstrate how to trim the sails. When you have mastered tacking the yacht on to various headings, your navigator will endeavor to plot a course to your chosen destination and pass the compass heading to steer to the helmsperson. Other tasks for the crew to undertake include keeping a watch on port tack (when you need to stay clear of a yacht on a starboard tack) and making the coffee in the galley down below. During the day, the team may bring the yacht to anchor in one of the bays or creeks where we pause for refreshments from time to time.

If you wish to push yourselves a little further, a simulated man overboard exercise is another fantastic way to get everyone working together and applying a little pressure. Teamwork is now essential. While one crew member sends the alarm on the digital vhf radio and inputs the MOB position to the electronic chart plotter, another keeps pointing in the direction of the casulty as

the yacht turns. A third throws over the life buoys and scatters the water with floatable items such as fenders to aid visability. The rest of the crew spring to the sail controls as the yacht manoevres. This will also bring out the natural leaders in the group. But it is the bonds which are formed between the crew which are the most beneficial. If more than a single yacht is required, we organise a race or two which tends to encourage a little competition between the crews. Much more on this below. Or perhaps we will propose team building exercises such as navigation tasks involving finding buoys identified only by their latitude and longitude positions.

It is not essential that these uk corporate yacht charter days are full of action. You may elect for a relaxed day out taking in some of the stunning coastal scenery that the Solent has to offer. Bobbing at anchor in a quiet unspoilt creek home to rare migrant flocks of birds with glass in hand has certain attractions.

Itineries Teambuilding days are operated from fashionable Lymington in the New Forest National Park down in Hampshire /Dorset. Our location allows us to cruise up the Beaulieu River into the heart of the forest or dart across to Yarmouth or Newtown Creek on the Island. Cowes is less than 2 hours sailing away. Because we are at the far western end of the Solent, the beautiful blue flag beaches of Studland bay to the west and Poole harbour are in range for a days charter as is Portsmouth to the east.

Team building 2008 was a good year for the team building sailing events side of our yacht charter business with blue chip companies as well as medium and small size companies all entrusting their big day out with us. We carried out a series of teamwork mini regattas involving 2, 3 or 4 yachts with matched performance. This latter point avoids arguments regarding which yacht was faster! Below is an image from a team building event in June using 4 yachts. Morning consisted of a leisurely sail from the Hamble to Cowes to allow the crews to familiarise themselves with the yachts. Lunch was taken ashore at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club. The afternoon saw a fun race back to the Hamble for presentation of prizes at the Royal Southern Yacht Club Hamble. Note that the clients are helming and crewing the yacht themselves.

Our mini regattas are remarkably similar to the real thing. We sail similar courses around the same race marks and finish to the blast of the sound horn on the Royal Yacht Squadron finishing line off Cowes at the mouth of the Medina river.

• Charter fee of £5,000 per day (Please note that Cowes week is charged at £6,000 per day. Also discounts available for multiple days/week long bookings.
• Catering and drinks (budget £50 - £100 + VAT pp)
• Fuel (£250 + VAT per day)
• Mooring fees - budget £100 - £200 + VAT per day
• Incidental costs such as corporate branding or RIB hire

Corporate Entertainment The ultimate corporate hospitality is participation in one of the worlds major yacht races. Each year we enter the Island Sailing Club's 'Round the Island Race'. This is the worlds largest yacht race with 1800 yachts competing in 2008. Started by canon on the ramparts of the Cowes water front, the race duration is approximately 9 hours. You will be rubbing shoulders with the yachting aristocracy including Olympic gold medalists much in the same way that the Grand National is open to (and sometimes won by) all comers. Once the finishing line has been crossed, there is plenty of time to celebrate ashore where a competitors village provides live music until late. The race is a spectacle and experience which your customers will appreciate enormously and so is stongly recommended. We can provide high quality catering, promotional clothing, photography, and hull advertising. We believe this event will breathe new life into your corporate entertainment allowing you to strengthen relations with your existing clients by bringing a sparkle to their eyes. What better way to get 3 days one to one time with your most important customer?

Round the Island Race. Beating home off Ryde

No 1 Solent teambuilding event is Cowes Week which always takes place 1st week in August. We will enter you into one of the major race categories and you will compete in the worlds largest sailing regatta. Racing daily against serious and experienced sailors, you will have a steep learning curve to climb. Races last around 3 hours and finish on the Royal Yacht Squadron line. We find that once a company has experinced Cowes Week for the firts time, they like to make it an annual event with the result that sailing skills are quickly acquired by everyone.
